Events Manager, Campus Philly
Posted by Campus Philly on July 30, 2019
Mission:
Campus Philly is a nonprofit organization that fuels economic growth by encouraging college students to study, explore, live and work in the Greater Philadelphia region.
Vision:
We help students fall in love with Philadelphia and launch their careers here after they graduate. Philadelphia is an amazing place to live and go to school. Campus Philly’s goal is to make sure students see the vibrancy, vitality and diversity of the city, leading them to seek out experiences and communities beyond their campus, and use their student ID to take advantage of the city’s best deals and discounts exclusively for students. We work with 30+ college and university partners, 50 arts and culture organizations, hundreds of employers and many of the most dynamic non-profit and civic groups in the city.
Job Description:
Campus Philly is seeking an Events Manager to produce or co-produce 15-20 events per year to serve both our student and stakeholder audience. The events manager will report to the VP of University Relations and Student Engagement and will work with outside vendors to produce events that run smoothly, deliver a great experience to our student and stakeholder audiences, and build stronger relationships with outside organizations with whom we collaborate. In addition, the events manager will have internal office operations responsibilities related to event planning and general office management. The events manager will also help Campus Philly evolve our student and stakeholder events to ensure they are serving the needs of our partners and producing the greatest impact.
Requirements
Areas of Responsibility:
Campus Philly produces the following events each year (in chronological order, beginning with the start of the academic school year). It should be noted that Campus Philly regularly evaluates events to ensure they are the most effective in driving impact for our students, partners and stakeholders and, therefore, this list may evolve in the coming year/years.
• Meet Philly Tour—a coordinated street team and Campus Philly staff visit all of our college and university partners for orientation, and new student events
• CollegeFest- an annual welcome festival for 5,000 students at Dilworth Park, featuring entertainment, free museums and transportation around the city, and up to 40 vendors and exhibitors. Campus Philly works with an event production organization to produce CollegeFest and the person in this role would manage that event production partner, as well as be the internal coordinator of marketing efforts and partner outreach around CollegeFest.
• College Nights – about 6 per year at arts and entertainment venues around the city. These are exclusive events for college students to enjoy arts and entertainment venues for free and with their peers. The venue provides the activity/program and Campus Philly collaborates with that venue to create a great student experience.
• Launch Events – about 5 per year. These events are wholly produced by Campus Philly to introduce students to employers and opportunities in Greater Philadelphia. These events serve between 100-200 students per event, are held in signature Philadelphia locations (which the events manager will help secure), provide food, programming and networking/recruiting.
• Inclusive Leadership Conference – produced in collaboration with Temple University every February, this event brings 400 students from multiple campuses for a full-day conference packed with workshops on leadership in a diverse community and world.
• Campus Philly Annual Meeting – a convening of 200 of Campus Philly stakeholders from higher education, the private sector and government to inform and network.
• My Philly Summer – an event for college students interning in Philadelphia over the summer and serving 1,000 interns through presentations at employer venues and a My Philly Summer party in July. The My Philly Summer party sees 200-300 summer interns come to a signature Philadelphia location for socializing and networking.
• Office manager responsibilities to include liaison to office supply vendors; building management; and phone and computer support.
