Evaluation Framework for Professional Development Workshops
Posted by on July 9, 2004
Over several months, through multiple edits and re-writes, and with the help of its acclaimed National Advisors, the OSTRC has produced a document entitled, ?Out-of-School Time (OST) Professional Development Workshops: An Evaluation Framework.? The purpose of the piece is to define and provide a simple framework for designing, implementing, and evaluating OST professional development workshops. Specifically, the document:
? Presents the OSTRC definition of professional development
? Identifies workshops as one part of a comprehensive strategy
? Explores the use and benefits of front-end evaluation
? Reviews research-based best practices in workshop implementation
? Recommends goals and objectives for professional development workshops
? Applies recommended goals and objectives to an OST workshop example
? Challenges OST staff to further explore the topic
? Lists helpful resources for evaluating professional development workshops
A copy of ?Out-of-School Time (OST) Professional Development Workshops: An Evaluation Framework? is attached to this Listserve message and is available through the OSTRC website: http://www.ssw.upenn.edu/OSTRC.
