Equal Measure (formerly the OMG Center for Collaborative Learning) is a $5 million nonprofit evaluation and philanthropic services firm based in Philadelphia. Formally established as a nonprofit 501(c)3 in 1988, Equal Measure has maintained a strong focus on public policy issues and has evolved into an expanding professional practice funded largely by foundations and social sector organizations. A large portion of Equal Measure’s evaluation services consists of national multi-year initiatives that include many sites, and require complex strategies and programs. Our philanthropic services include serving as the National Program Office for New Connections, a program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and managing grant-making for the Pew Charitable Trust’s Capacity Building portfolio.
Our Work
Equal Measure serves as thought partners on some of the most pressing social change efforts in our country, including addressing educational and health disparities, building thriving communities, and tackling institutional and systemic barriers to equitable opportunity. We leverage insights gained from evaluations and research to determine which programs are working best, and why, and then help our partners refine their efforts for maximum impact. Through our philanthropic services, we manage programs, and shape and implement best practices to drive change in the social sector.
Our team offers years of practical experience in disciplines such as evaluation strategy, cross-sector partnerships, mixed-methods evaluations, philanthropic services, nonprofit operations and management, and strategic communications. And, we bring content knowledge, strategic insights, and passion from fields as varied as postsecondary education, economic security, health, leadership, community development, and human capital. We draw on this wide-ranging, forward-thinking interdisciplinary expertise to serve as thought partners and leaders with our clients.
Representative clients include the Aspen Institute, the Helmsley Charitable Trust, Living Cities, The James Irvine Foundation, the Citi Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Lumina Foundation, and the StriveTogether Network.
The Position
This is a full-time position providing support across multiple projects. The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Equal Measure’s mission of elevating insights that help shape powerful investments and fuel sustainable social change. The individual will be a self-starter with strong analytic writing skills, a tangible background in mixed-methods evaluation, and one to three years of evaluation and research experience.
As an integral member of our evaluation team, the consultant will have a range of responsibilities, including:
- Providing support in preparing and writing proposals, memos, Issue Briefs, presentations, and reports (including conducting literature searches; synthesizing findings; preparing figures, charts, and tables; and fact-checking and documentation)
- Cleaning, merging, and preparing data files for analysis
- Reviewing and analyzing qualitative data
- Conducting statistical analyses
- Developing quantitative and qualitative data collection tools, including participant and organizational surveys, and interview and focus group protocols
- Participating as an active member of organizational committees and contributing to thought leadership and organizational development
- Providing general project support, including scheduling meetings and coordinating data collection activities
- Engaging with clients and other stakeholders
- Traveling for projects, as required

Candidate Qualifications/Experience
- Master’s degree in social sciences preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and strong evaluation and research skills.
- Background and interest in one or more of the following areas: community development, education reform, asset building, health and human services systems, and organizational development
- At least one to three years of applied experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, including: Knowledge of design methods in the social sciences; Experience conducting qualitative research, including participatory evaluation, thematic analysis, case study, and meta-analysis; Experience cleaning quantitative data (merging, creating new variables, recoding); and Experience with a variety of quantitative analyses (descriptives, correlations, ANOVA and linear regression)
- Strong analytical writing skills, as well as excellent oral communication skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft applications; Internet research; qualitative data analysis software, such as NVivo; survey platforms, such as Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or QuestionPro; and statistical programming languages, such as SAS, SPSS, Stata, or R
- Adept in working with a variety of technology platforms, including project management and tracking systems
- Excellent analytical skills and problem solving capability
- Ability to take initiative; work closely with team members to establish collaborative interpersonal relationships; and contribute to overall project and organizational goals
- Ability to set priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks and project activities
- Strong ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to travel nationally, as needed
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $50,000-$53,000. We offer an attractive employee benefits package.
