LISC Teams Up with ESPN, Under Armour to Launch RePlay
A new grant program is set to help community-based organizations in Baltimore, Los Angeles and Philadelphia transform vacant lots into vibrant spaces for sports and recreation. Funded by ESPN and Under Armour and managed by LISC, the program will support revitalization efforts in underserved communities, creating safe places for youth to play.
In this initial year, LISC anticipates at least one $10,000 planning grant and one $75,000 implementation award will be made in Philadelphia. Community-based organizations should apply for a grant before May 15, 2018.
Vacant lots in neighborhoods present great opportunities to provide access to safe, healthy recreation spaces in communities. LISC will identify projects and provide technical assistance to local residents and community groups, and assist them from the predevelopment and construction phases to project completion.
The RePlay Program is aligned with LISC’s longstanding efforts to revitalize underserved communities, including helping neighbors reclaim vacant spaces and create places for neighborhood recreation and play. What’s more, LISC’s investments in affordable housing, businesses, jobs, and safety have helped make neighborhoods and residents healthier.
