Equity in Every Dose: A Toolkit for Culturally Responsive Health Promotion and Community Engagement

Posted by Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) on November 12, 2024

Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) was awarded an opportunity to serve as a partner organization with Michigan State University (MSU) in the implementation of The National Network to Innovate for COVID-19 and Adult Vaccine Equity (NNICE). This project is a part of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) network of over 500 national, state, local, and community organizations. Over the past three years, the NINICE project has supported Black and Brown communities in Michigan, North Carolina, and Maryland in accessing COVID-19 and other adult vaccines.

CCPH provided resources and tools to community partners to increase awareness of, availability of, access to, and confidence in COVID-19 and influenza vaccination. CCPH also hosted a community grant program that allowed us to support participating organizations in Eastern North Carolina. The NNICE toolkit was created by the Center for Culturally Responsive Engagement (CCRE) at MPHI, in partnership with Michigan State University.

The toolkit, titled Equity in Every Dose: A Toolkit for Culturally Responsive Health Promotion and Community Engagement, offers:

  • An overview of key principles of culturally responsive health promotion
  • The ecological context of COVID-19 and other adult vaccine health promotion
  • Strategies for culturally responsive health promotion
  • Examples from the NNICE partnership

Access the toolkit.
