Environmental Sustainability in Low-Income and Minority Neighborhoods
Posted by on February 15, 2010
I am pleased to announce the first annual Diversity Symposium; Planning and Diversity in Perspective: Environmental Sustainability in Low-Income and Minority Neighborhoods, on Friday, February 19, 9am-2:30pm. This event is a student-led initiative to work toward the Bloustein School’s mission of promoting social justice and to draw attention to contributions made by minority professionals in distressed neighborhoods. We encourage you to attend as this will be an opportunity to learn more about “green” careers as well as ways in which we can all get involved in creating healthier, livable, communities. Panelists include Meredith Taylor of Isles Inc., Sheila Someshekhar of Sustainable South Bronx, and Scott Dvorak of Parks for People in Newark with Bloustein’s own Leonardo Vazquez moderating. This event will be held in collaboration with the Robert A. Catlin Memorial Lecture which will feature Robert Curvin, Distinguished Senior Policy Fellow here at the Bloustein School, as the keynote speaker. It is our hope that
you will attend the entire day of events and encourage your colleagues to attend as well. Lunch and light refreshments will be served. Please confirm your attendance by registering before February 15, 2010 at the following site: http://policy.rutgers.edu/students/rapps/conference10.php or by calling Renee Douge at (732) 932-5475.
