Attend the 2008 M. Powell Lawton Conference titled Building Connections and Reducing Isolation: Enhancing the Social Capital of the City’s Elderly
Building on last year’s Lawton conference that looked at neighborhood initiatives to improve the quality of life of older persons, this year’s panels will consider the vital role social capital plays in health and well-being; explore ways to build stronger connections between older Philadelphians and their neighborhoods; and examine the roles of neighborhood institutions in building feelings of connection and reducing isolation among the elderly.
