Engaging Youth; Fighting Childhood Hunger – Grow & Recover

Posted by Sodexo Foundation on October 13, 2014

1 in 5 children in America face hunger, yet we waste 30%-40% of our food supply. Join a free webinar next Tuesday, October 14 at 7:30pm Eastern and learn how you can help grow and recover food to end childhood hunger. Anyone can join; two of the featured organizations work on college campuses, so college students and faculty are especially welcome! Register at: https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/830568766

This online presentation will feature a panel of speakers sharing how you can help grow and recover food to feed hungry people in partnership with organizations leading innovative efforts around the country, including:

· Food Day – a nationwide celebration and a movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food.

· The Campus Kitchens Project partners with high schools, colleges and universities to share on-campus kitchen space, recover food from cafeterias, and engage students as volunteers who prepare and deliver meals to the community.

· Food Sync, a youth-led organization that utilizes the power of technology to reduce waste and connect surplus food to the hungry.

· Food Recovery Network unites students on college campuses to fight waste and feed people by donating the surplus unsold food from their colleges and donating it to hungry Americans.

YSA will begin accepting applications for our Sodexo Foundation Youth Grants program next week, and we’d love to see applications for food recovery projects on campuses.

There will also be time for you to ask questions so you can be ready to take action right away! Sign up to attend at this webinar at https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/830568766

This webinar is the second in a series of three Engaging Youth; Fighting Childhood Hunger webinars being presented by YSA in partnership with Sodexo Foundation this fall. For more information about this webinar series, visit: https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/830568766
