Engaged Department Institute
Posted by on January 21, 2005
On April 15-16, 2005 the Pennsylvania Campus Compact will host an Engaged Department Institute in Harrisburg. The Institute is a collaborative effort with the New York and West Virginia Campus Compacts:
– to gather 12 teams of academic department faculty and community partners
– to examine the scholarship of engagement.
Drs. Edward Zlotkowski and John Saltmarsh from the national Campus Compact office will facilitate the Institute. In order to make the time as productive as possible, we are limiting the institute to 12 teams. Academic departments may apply to participate in the Institute by going to our web site (http://www.paccompact.org) and retrieving the application materials.
The Institute is not designed for individual participants nor is it an introduction to service-learning practice. Academic departments that participate in the institute must demonstrate significant experience with community based course work and research and clearly articulate how they propose to expand on their knowledge and experience.
Please share this announcement with faculty members and academic departments that are interested in expanding their understanding and practice of engaged teaching and learning strategies.
