Encore Volunteer Managers Program
Posted by on March 29, 2010
Recently, Coming of Age has sent you information about next month’s “Capturing the Energy and Expertise of People Age 50+ Learning Lab” here in Philadelphia.
Now, to further support your work, we want to tell you about the Encore Volunteer Managers Program — Fifteen $7,000 Grants for Part-Time Volunteer Managers for Philadelphia Area Nonprofits.
Temple University, along with its Coming of Age partners, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, WHYY and AARP PA — and the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning are presenting this Program.
It was created to increase nonprofit capacity by maximizing the power of volunteers to connect and contribute under the leadership of a trained and certified older adult Volunteer Manager.
Through the generosity of the Barra Foundation, with additional support from the PA Dept. of Aging and United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Volunteer Managers will receive a stipend of $7,000 for one year for 15 to 20 hours per week.
For this program we are seeking high performance nonprofits whose missions focus on Basic Needs, Refugees and Immigrants, and Older Adult Services.
Agencies interested in having an Encore Volunteer Manager will be asked to:
* Accept approved participants for the exclusive role of Volunteer Manager
* Ensure that participants are able to perform 15 hours per week as a Volunteer Manager
* Provide your Volunteer Manager with physical space, access to technology (including telephone and computer), staff supervision, orientation and training.
You will find the application to participate by clicking here.
