Encore Volunteer Managers

Posted by on August 27, 2010

The Encore Volunteer Managers program was recently launched. This innovative program is being offered by Temple University, along with its Coming of Age partners, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, WHYY, and AARP PA — and the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning.

There was an enthusiastic response to an earlier call for Encore Volunteer Managers, age 50 and older, to work in 15 qualified nonprofits whose missions focus on basic needs, refugees and/or immigrants. While we received many applications for this part-time, stipended position, there are still a few openings.

If you are interested in learning more — and in applying for this interesting, meaningful position…keep reading!

Each manager will lead a corps of volunteers of all ages within a nonprofit. He/she will receive volunteer management training from Coming of Age. The work of the Encore Volunteer Manager will enhance the organization’s ability to use the power of volunteers to build capacity and strengthen services.

Primary Responsibilities of the Encore Volunteer Manager:

* Implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program that reflect the mission of the organization.
* Establish and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers, staff, and administrators at the participating nonprofit.
* Promote the role of volunteers to gain organizational and community support.
* Ensure that volunteers are given appropriate training and that their roles are meaningful, respected, and engaging.

You will find the application to participate by clicking here.
