The Achieving Independence Center (AIC) is a “one-stop center” designed to help young people, ages 16-21, from the dependent (foster care) system achieve their future goals of self-sufficiency.
The Employment and Technology Instructor is responsible for:
1) Facilitating employment and technology workshops in individual and group settings. Topic areas include: researching and job searching, creating a resume, writing cover letters and thank you notes, developing interview skills and other areas related to independent living.
2) Developing connections and resources for the implementation of experiential learning in the community.
3) Assisting Case Managers in goal planning for members of the Achieving Independence Center.
The ideal candidate will possess:
A commitment to positive youth development and a strengths-based approach.
Training in (or willingness to learn) adventure-based counseling techniques.
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work or other related field.
Child Abuse, Criminal Background and FBI clearances.
Available early evenings and weekends.
Enjoys working with teens.
