So often, dialogue is facilitated in a way that engages our minds and voices, but keeps our bodies still. And yet, we read so much of the world through our bodies and other people’s movements, gestures, and actions. In this workshop, the presenters will draw on both techniques of applied theater and the practices of Transformational Social Therapy (TST) to engage participants in dialogue through both speaking and movement. We will use status activities, games, and movement exercises as a way to open up conversation and provide a starting point for naming connections – and disconnections – related to race, class, gender, and other social identities and barriers that we navigate in our daily lives.
