Jail Reentry Toolkit for Local Elected Officials
While there has been increased attention to reentry from state and federal prisons in recent years, little attention has been paid to the 9 million individuals annually released from local jails. The Urban Institute’s Elected Official’s Toolkit for Jail Reentry, published with support from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, is designed to help cities and counties meet the challenges of addressing jail reentry in their communities.
The toolkit provides information local elected officials can use to improve the jail-to-community reentry process, whether their jurisdiction is implementing a jail reentry initiative for the first time or seeking to expand or improve an existing initiative.
