Effective Management
July 12-13, 2004; 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
July 14, 2004; 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
This seminar will focus on the administrative components of a quality afterschool program. Included will be effective systems to manage fiscal resources and administrative policies, workplace issues, strategies for recruitment and retention, staff development and training, ideas for building a family-responsive program, building a “learning organization,” leadership and management styles, and working collaboratively with schools and communities.
Please note: The Directors’ Retreat will be organized around two tracks: One designed for executive directors of multi-site agencies; and the other designed for directors and coordinators of single site programs
Goals of Training:
– To examine the management components of an effective school-age program
– To assess the directors role in effective management of a school-age program
– To gain a stronger perspective on policy and research in out-of-school time
– To learn financial planning
– To gain a broader, cultural, and systemic context for program development
– To be reflective and analytic

Who Should Attend: Directors and coordinators of both multi-site agencies as well as single site programs
Tuition: $575 – includes participant notebook and all other materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks
