Educator Training: NBA Math Hoops
Posted by Learn Fresh on August 7, 2017
The NBA Math Hoops training in Philadelphia allows educators to access the Sixers’ signature STEM program at no cost. During the two hour session, participants will learn how to play the Math Hoops board game, implement the program’s curriculum, and gain access to special incentives and events during the school year. All are sponsored by the Sixers, creating a unique connection between you, your students, and the team!
In 2016, 4-8th grade students’ math scores experienced a 36.7% growth rate on the program’s pre to post-assessment, and 88% of participating educators reported notable gains in their students’ math skills. To date, over 62,000 students have completed more than 35 million math problems through NBA Math Hoops.
All 4-8th grade educators who wish to implement the program, including those who work in the classroom and in after-school programs, are welcome to attend a training on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Please RSVP to [email protected] by Friday, August 25, to attend. Include the names and emails of all educators in attendance from your site, and the time of the session that you wish to attend.
