Education without Borders: Supporting Success in the Face of Change

Participants will learn:
• Promising practices for schools to ensure school success for migrant education students
• Methods to build capacity and support literacy development
• Parent engagement efforts
• Best practices and strategies to support ESL/ELL
• Educational and support services that address migrant students’ special needs
• Challenges and strategies for identification and recruitment of migrant students
• Improve data collection strategies across state lines for migrant students
School district, intermediate unit, private school, charter school, non-public school and career and technical center personnel, parents, community organizations and agencies and Migrant Education Program and ESL/ELL staff are encouraged to attend.

Lodging accommodations for the Migrant Education Program staff have been arranged by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Center for Schools and Communities. Other attendees are responsible for their own travel and lodging arrangements.
A block of rooms has been reserved for participants attending the conference at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge, 1160 First Avenue, King of Prussia, PA 19406 at the discounted rate of $100 plus tax. The rate is for single or double occupancy and is currently subject to 8% tax. Please call the hotel directly at (610) 337-2000 and mention the Migrant Education Conference group rate when making your reservation. This rate is available through Tuesday, September 27, 2011.
