OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION
United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley is in search of a contractor to build capacity and overall quality of program content for our Education Investments in the Lehigh Valley.

Deliverables include:
1) Work directly with United Way funded education programs, by strategy and/or as individually identified by UWGLV Education team members to build capacity and overall quality of program content, and delivery within the context of the UWGLV 2014-2018 investment plan.
A. Be able to identify trending needs for professional development and coordinate appropriate supports for individual and multiple partners simultaneously regarding improved program development and delivery practices, inclusion and implementation of prioritized strategies, aligned measures and tools that capture true programmatic impact, etc.
B. Work with UW Data team to ensure new systems and tools are in alignment with data dashboards and protocols.
2) Lead the creation of a regional tutoring initiative in partnership with efforts already underway from planning, logistics, training, implementation and assessment.
3) Create an education policy platform and connect advocacy efforts to the Lehigh Valley Campaign for Grade Level Reading- across Early Learning, Summer Learning and Higher Education Tutoring practices.
4) Support the strategic direction, planning, communication and rollout of Lehigh Valley’s Campaign for Grade Level Reading.

QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM CONTRACT SUCCESSFULLY
Candidates must be in business for themselves providing professional services as an independent contractor to qualify.
Qualified contractor will have:
 Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and benchmarks of Community Schools (http://www.communityschools.org)
 Understanding of the most critical challenges facing students, families, and public schools
 Understanding of public school structure and data driven planning
 Familiarity with school districts, public education, children, families and teens in the Lehigh Valley
 Demonstrated experience in leadership-based responsibilities involving collaborative/multi-system initiatives, strategic planning, project management, supervision, and evaluation related to children, teens, and families.
 Demonstrated experience in effectively building relationships between public education institutions and community partners and funds

CONTRACT DETAILS
This is an independent contractor position; there are no employment benefits and all taxes are the responsibility of the independent contractor. The contract will be written for 6 month intervals. Workload is estimated at no more than 140 hours a month. Flat fee compensation for this contract is $4,500 per month. Contractor must provide own office resources and be able to attend in-person meetings at various locations in the Lehigh Valley.
