Education in Action, NYLC – Sep 23
Posted by National Youth Leadership Council on September 20, 2022
Education in Action (EIA) engages K-12 educators (in-school as well as afterschool programs) in creating and implementing a year-long service-learning effort with their students to improve education equity. EIA Educators will receive monthly training, coaching, join a peer network, and receive a $1,000 grant to create more equitable institutions through service-learning.
Education equity is the belief that everyone deserves a quality education, regardless of their race, gender identity, socioeconomic status, or any other trait.
Service-learning is a proven strategy to engage students in their education when they understand that their service is authentic, has substance over time, and can be understood in the context of academic or civic content. However, without fidelity to quality, service-learning does not live up to its promise of positive outcomes.
Education in Action provides professional development, coaching, a peer network, and implementation grants for K-12 educators to take the leap into service-learning. Whether they are brand new, or have implemented service-learning before, structured support from NYLC enables a standards-based focus.
Applications due September 23, 2022.
