The Lenfest Center is a privately owned and operated community center located in the Hunting Park community of North Philadelphia. The center’s mission is to improve the mental, physical and social health of youth in the Hunting Park community. Education Director: The Lenfest Center is looking for a dynamic individual to serve as a full-time Education Director. The Education Director will work closely with the Executive Director and Program Director to develop and manage a structured after-school program for youth in grades K-8. The program focus will be on identifying academic strengths and weaknesses and helping to supplement the students’ school experiences.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
1.    Manage after-school program for students in grades K-8. Work closely with Executive Director to develop year-round curriculum with a focus on homework help, academic enrichment and mental/physical health.
2.    Develop relationships with local schools and social service organizations. Monitor individual students’ academic performance and develop a sense of their strengths and weaknesses.
3.    Communicate and meet frequently with parents. Encourage parental participation.
4.    Recruit and manage volunteer tutors and mentors.
5.    Develop and manage partnerships with outside organizations that can offer academic and life-skills enrichments programming.
6.    Supervise at least three part-time employees.
Assist Lenfest Center staff with the following:
1.    Recruiting children and families to Lenfest Center programs and events.
2.    Performing community outreach to local churches, schools, and non-profits.
3.    Preparing materials for website and social media outreach.
4.    Organizing and supervising field trips and summer enrichment programs.
5.    Developing long-term program goals and plans for the Lenfest Center.

Additional Requirements:
1.    Must hold a BA/BS or equivalent international degree. Preference given to candidates with degrees in education, social work or related fields.
2.    Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work in a fluid environment with different projects and challenges arising daily.
3.    Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with adults and children of all backgrounds, and must be comfortable working in both collaborative and individual settings.
4.    Candidates must pass a criminal background screening and hold a valid driver’s license.
5.    Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
6.    Fluency in Spanish a plus.
