Responsible to support teaching staff on a variety of education issues to include curriculum development, lesson planning, learning environment, teaching strategies, behavioral management, educational materials and child growth and development. Reviews screenings and assessments administered to all children enrolled in the center. Supervises Teachers and Assistant Teachers and insures quality and compliance through regular classroom visitation, monitors using the Early Childhood Education Rating Scale (ECERS) and consultant services. Assesses training needs and provides for, or arranges, training for instructional staff.
Qualifications:
Able to type and experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and outlook.
A minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Education with concentration in Early Childhood education (required) with least 5 years experience.
Must be able to fluently speak, write and read Spanish and English and knowledge of and experience with Puerto Rican culture.
Two years or more experience in the following areas: supervision, parent education, and staff training and Head Start standards.
Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development, a variety of behavioral intervention techniques, curriculum strategies, and educational theories and philosophy; understanding of and demonstrated skill in assessment techniques and outcomes; effective therapeutic interventions and outcomes; ability to demonstrate a variety of teaching techniques, lesson planning and I. E. P. development strategies;
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to adjust to different environments and grasp varying concepts and procedures; organization and time management skills; human relations skills;
Observations and analytic skills; ability to examine methods and procedures and recommend improvement; problem-solving skills;
Public speaking and presentation skills;
High initiative, integrity and energy;
Knowledge of community resources and a variety of cultures; report writing and research skills; process perspective and tact.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Must be able to obtain and pass Criminal, Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Clearances.
Must be able to have Health Assessment done.
