Job Description
Currently we have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, compassionate and talented Education Coordinator.
As the Education Coordinator you will be a member of the Career Strategies (CS) Youth Services department; a dynamic and growing JEVS team. In this position you will be responsible for providing educational support services including test prep for SAT/ACT, aptitude and interest assessments, skills development, and case management.
Day to Day:
- Create lesson plans and teach SAT and ACT courses and individual tutoring
- Facilitate group projects and interactive lessons
- Recruit, interview, and orient prospective students as well as determine eligibility
- Conduct workshops on educational issues; make public presentations related to program goals
- Maintain knowledge of educational issues, policies and best practices in the field of youth services
- Provide college and financial aid guidance and counseling to students and families
- Collaborate with school staff and partner organizations to prepare students for postsecondary plan
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in education or related field preferred
- 2+ years’ experience working with at risk youth
- Familiarity with educational counseling and local education practices and issues
- Excellent communication skills and experience in preparing and conducting workshops and training sessions; good communication skills with youth 14 through 21 years of age and their families
- Good organizational skills and willingness to be part of a team
- Demonstrates strong skill in SAT/ACT
- Must have own transportation
- Flexible workweek hours; early evening work required
