October 9, 2008 at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg/Hershey in Grantville, PA
What will I learn?
This statewide professional development opportunity will offer practical tips and creative solutions to help improve educational outcomes for homeless students. The conference will focus on key elements which support the development, implementation and sustainability of effective services and programs for homeless children, youth and families, such as:
• providing academic support for homeless students
• complying with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
• helping homeless students experience minimal disruption to their education
• supporting homeless students with disabilities
• understanding the rights and responsibilities of homeless parents
• working with homeless teens, including runaway and unaccompanied youth
