Economic Development Director, New Kensington CDC

Function
Assists NKCDC’s efforts to improve the community’s economic conditions; including neighborhood redevelopment efforts, planning, and business attraction. Ensure community economic development needs are pursued within the overall mission and strategic planning of NKCDC.

Business Resource Coordinator (fulltime position)
Frankford Avenue Corridor Coordinator (fulltime position)
Arts Business Coordinator (part time position)
Coral Street Arts House Service Coordinator (part time position)
Responsibilities
· Plan and facilitate NKCDC quarterly business meetings or workshops;
· Support business association development and capacity building by connecting to technical resources and communication of activities and participation opportunities
· Ensure sustainable, locally centered economic development for area including the communitydriven development of improvement plans produced and implemented.
· Ensure development of short and long range economic development plans with a specific focus on the development of Frankford Avenue Arts Corridor and other neighborhood commercial corridors such as Girard Avenue and Allegheny Avenue
· Assist and lead where necessary local corridor marketing initiatives.
· Assist in setting priorities and policies, and identify opportunities for funding and development
· Continue to work with the Real Estate Development on various commercial development projects
· Welcome all new businesses who move in to the target area, letting them know how they can get involved, giving them help with L&I, connecting them to city programs, etc.
· Encourage new businesses to locate on Frankford Avenue and work with existing building owners to appropriately develop their properties, i.e. expose to city assistance programs, marketing materials and organize promotional events
· Provide technical and strategic assistance to existing community businesses.
· Work collaboratively to promote teamwork within other NKCDC programs and among community groups and volunteers.
· Collaborate with neighborhood association zoning committees in the implementation and adaptation of community created design guidelines
· Identify resources for Phase I and II of Hometown Streets implementation along Frankford Avenue .
· Work with Arts Business Coordinator to develop arts-related programming, public art projects and implementation of arts driven revitalization strategy
· Insure all NKCDC policies and procedures and met and maintained by ED team.
· Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree in Economic Development, Community/City Planning, or related field
· At least three years experience in community development
· Experience in staff supervision
· Ability to communicate well with businesses, community residents, and government officials
· Knowledge of business and human services sectors
· Competent with Excel, database management and word processing
