Eastern N. Philadelphia Youth Summit to be held at LaSalle
The Eastern North Philadelphia Youth Services Coalition will host its 2nd annual youth summit on Saturday, November 5th at LaSalle University.
This year’s theme, Star Power, is inspired by youths’ personal celebrations. The summit hopes to help youth celebrate the Star that lives within them – celebrate the dream within them, the potential within them, the promise within them.
The summit is a one-day conference that brings together 300 youth from across the Delaware Valley for a diverse series of conversations about things important to them. Some of these conversations entertain the lighter side of being a youth in America today, such as beauty tips for young women and dance lessons for young men. Other conversations serve as an outlet for youth to discuss issues of greater importance and gravity such as teen parenting, teen violence, self-esteem, and youth/adult relationships. Yet other conversations focus on the trials and tribulations of navigating college as a first generation college student or the complexities and the impact social media has in their everyday lives at home, work, and school. In between these conversations, youth also have the chance to interact with college representatives and working professionals as part of a college and career exploration fair.
