What is the Earth Business Project?

The EarthBusiness Project: Dialogue to Action is discovering how successful businesses in the Delaware Valley are incorporating environmentally sound principles into their operations. Our purpose is to link together people who have a commitment to both business and the environment through your stories of success and your desires for the future. Together, we will articulate a powerful agenda for sustainable business that builds upon current success.

What is the forum?

The forum brings together people we have interviewed, their guests and SBN members so that we can take our discovery to the next level. Already we have discovered numerous successes. We have also discovered numerous hopes for the future. The forum will engage you in structured conversation with fellow business people around your dreams for the future of business and the environment. We believe that clarity of intention is the first step to taking sustained and positive action.

You are participating in the pilot phase of this project. As such, you are assisting us in shaping the next steps that will be taken.

What is our method?

Our method begins with interviews focused on what’s currently working and what’s most desirable. Known as Appreciative Inquiry, it is a method for analyzing stories of success in order to determine what’s possible and desirable for the future. Appreciative Inquiry has been used successfully at companies such as Hunter Douglas, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, British Airways and British Petroleum.

What are the outcomes?
– A network of business people in the Delaware Valley who have clear aspirations for incorporating environmental well-being into their business operations.
– On-going support, camaraderie, innovation and action.
– More and more stories of business successfully partnering with the earth.
