Earth Force Youth Engagement Partnership Coordinator

Posted by on June 10, 2013

Earth Force is a national 501(c)(3) organization with headquarters in Denver, CO, that engages young people as active citizens who improve the environment and their communities now and in the future. The AmeriCorps VISTA Youth Engagement Partnership Coordinator will work to develop the capacity of a Community Based Initiative (CBI), which Earth Force helps to form and facilitate, in the City of Chester.

In order to achieve this goal, we will expand existing relationships with schools and organizations in these communities. We will also help stimulate new relationships which contribute positively to community-based collaborations. These collaborations will focus on building consensus on the importance of youth engagement and simulating collective work amongst the members of the collaborative around service-learning. Desired outcomes of a CBI, a zone in which many different sectors of public and private organizations support a coordinated effort to supply service-learning to a large percentage of a community’s youth population, include: Improving academic engagement and achievement. Demonstrating the relevance of academic coursework and the value of civic engagement through service-learning. Connecting youth with citizens from diverse communities, backgrounds, and perspectives, providing them with expanded opportunities to serve; and Building enduring capacity within communities to use service as a solution to address pressing challenges.
