Early Learning Center/Headstart Director, EducationWorks

EducationWorks is non-profit organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of children, youth and families by providing educational programs and services confronting high rates of poverty and other barriers to educational achievement. The organization currently has a need for a full time Headstart Director of our Early Learning Center, located at our Philadelphia Office.

The Early Learning Center Director manages the Early Learning Center in accordance with State and local regulations and EW policies to ensure that children placed in the Center receive high-quality and appropriate developmental care in a safe environment. The ELC Director reports to the PA Director.

Qualifications:
(the following qualifications are required for licensing in Pennsylvania)
One of the following:
(1) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or a human services field and 1 year of experience with children.
(2) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or a human services field and 2 years of experience with children.
(3) An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or a human services field and 3 years of experience with children.
(4) An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or a human services field and 4 years of experience with children.

A Master’s degree is preferred.

In addition, EW requires:

1. Previous experience with Head Start, Keystone Stars, and CCIS.
2. Supervisory experience.
3. Program management experience.
4. Ability and commitment to work beyond traditional working hours and schedule, as needed
5. Ability to effectively work with parents, visitors, government representatives, and the general public.
6. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
7. Excellent organizational and paperwork management skills
8. Excellent technical skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications.
