Early Childhood Issue Brief – Strong Foundations: Promoting Diverse and Inclusive Preschool Settings
Posted by The Hunt Institute on July 5, 2022
A new brief released by The Hunt Institute addresses the importance of diversity in preschools. Due to rapid brain development before kindergarten, students thrive when they have access to high-quality education early on. The evidence shared demonstrates the academic, cognitive, social, and emotional benefits of diversity and inclusivity. Additionally, the authors provide recommendations for policymakers searching for ways to create more diverse classrooms—for example, robust wrap-around services and comprehensive training and professional development. The authors conclude that by enacting practical policy solutions, inclusive classrooms ensure educational equity and a strong start for all children.
