E-Health Training Opportunity

Under a grant from the Bureau of Health Professions, the Center for Collaborative Research at Thomas Jefferson University is conducting an eHealth Training Institute on June 20-25, 2005 in Philadelphia. The institute is designed to provide occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech-language pathologists with the knowledge and skill to develop web-based health programs to individuals in underserved communities. Institute participants will 1) complete the first phase of a Website designed to address a significant health problem in an underserved community by the end of the institute, 2) develop an eHealth promotion program to address community needs; 3) tailor health information to a community?s needs; 4) learn how to establish an eHealth infrastructure in an underserved community; 5) evaluate the impact of the program on the health of the community; and 6) incorporate principles of eHealth into practice, education and scholarship.

Applications are being solicited for up to three-person teams consisting of at least one representative from occupational therapy, physical therapy, and/or speech-language pathology. Preference will be given to teams comprised of at least one faculty member and one practicing clinician. A total of six teams will be selected to participate. Funds are available to help defray travel and expenses for each team. The deadline for applications is March 4, 2005. Selection of teams will be completed by April 1, 2005.
