Pedigree Foundation Invites Applications From Dog Shelters and Rescues
Established in 2008 by dog lovers, the Pedigree Foundation supports organizations that save the lives of dogs that would otherwise be lost.
To advance this mission, the foundation welcomes applications for its 2020 grants program. Through the program, grants will be awarded to dog shelters and animal rescues with programs that support dog adoptions. Funding may be used to help improve the quality of care for dogs while in shelter or rescue and increase adoption rates within shelters or rescues through programs and/or new initiatives in the animal welfare community. To that end, the foundation is inviting applications for the following awards:
Dogs Rule Grants — Grants of up to $100,000 over two years will be awarded in support of new, creative, and innovative initiatives with the potential to serve as a best-practice adoption model for other shelters and rescues.
Program Development — Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded in support of program(s) or project(s) which support activities that expand operational capacity to improve dog adoption rates.
Operation Grants — Grants of up to $1,000 will be awarded in support of general operating expenses, including facility/structure renovation or upkeep, veterinary expense, transportation, or any other expense that helps to increase the shelter’s dog adoption rate. Operational grants are limited to organizations with total annual revenue of less than $200,000.
In 2020, priority will be placed on programs designed to support efforts to transport animals from areas of overpopulation to areas of demand for pet adoption; programs designed to increase the likelihood that shelter dogs will bond with their adopters (this could include behavior training or other programs that help create the best fit for dogs and potential adopters); and programs that utilize temporary housing in the interest of getting more dogs adopted.
To be eligible, applicants must be designated as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
See the Pedigree Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
