DISCOVERY 2002-2003
Discover how you can make a difference with Discovery! Join the fun with students in grades 2 through 5 for the 8th year of Philadelphia Cares? Discovery program. This educational enrichment program boosts the aspirations and self-confidence of students from urban neighborhoods. Discovery strives to make students more aware of the importance of education and technology, to broaden their horizons, and to be a positive force in their lives. The Discovery program will run at Ferguson and Dunbar Elementary Schools, from October to April, on Saturdays from 9am-12pm. Twenty Grade Captains and about 60 volunteers will participate each week. Grade Captains will work in teams of two per grade; they will create lesson plans and lead the classroom volunteers and students in the planned activities for the day. Make a difference in the life of a child by joining us as a Grade Captain! Contact Devon Segel or Heather Simpkins at Philadelphia Cares to join the fun and commit to the children at 215-564-4544 or [email protected], [email protected]. Thank you for getting involved!
