Workshops offer training to disability advocates
To help disability advocates improve their skills, the Disability Advocacy Support Hub (DASH) was established by the Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania.
DASH is offering a day of training for advocates through two workshops to be held on Wednesday, September 17th at Vision for Equality, 718 Arch Street in Philadelphia.
The first workshop, Getting It Done: Advocacy Outside the Box, will be held from 10 am to noon. Using different advocacy strategies is much more powerful and more likely to succeed at bringing social change, than using just one kind of advocacy. The more creative you are, the greater the chances of success. The workshop will help participants to develop and use different strategies – administrative, legislative/political, legal, media/public education and direct action to achieve their advocacy goals.
The second workshop, Strategic Planning, will be held from 1-3 pm and will help participants understand the importance of having a clear mission and vision for their organizations. Learn how to prepare an action plan with overarching goals and measurable objectives, as well as an effective strategy with target dates.
Lunch will be provided.
