Director for Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers
The Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers is a community-based, grassroots organization focused on restoring the natural areas of the Wissahickon Valley Park, a 1,800 acre park owned and operated by the Fairmount Park Commission in Philadelphia, PA.
Responsibilities
? Coordinate volunteer work groups
? Supervise volunteer groups
? Assist the WRV Steering Committee and its sub-committees in policy making and planning
? Coordinate efforts with the Fairmount Park Commission and other agencies
? Purchase of materials (trees, tools, etc)
? Develop plant lists for restoration
? Write grant applications
? Administer grant applications and manage existing grant agreements
? Recruit and train volunteer crew leaders
? Manage budget with financial manager
? Facilitate production of publications
? Facilitate public relations activities
? Supervise interns
? Carry out program activities in keeping with the organization?s mission, policies, and plans
? Facilitate day-to-day operations of the organization
Qualifications
? Knowledge of restoration techniques, native plants, and invasive exotic plants (a degree in environmental sciences, natural resources, ecosystems management or a similar field is strongly preferred).
? Experience with volunteer management
? Experience with grant writing and administration
? Knowledge of non-profit environment
Ability to work independently
Salary: $30,000 plus health insurance
Full-time position with flexible work schedule
