POSITION DESCRIPTION
Director
Reports to:
UII Board of Directors, Assistant Director of Commerce
General Description
The Director performs and manages daily activities of the Urban Industry Initiative (UII), a non-profit program created to retain and create manufacturing jobs in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods by strengthening businesses and building relationships between manufacturers and their community. The UII pursues this goal through a comprehensive strategy of technical assistance, community improvement activities, and business networking programs.
Duties
? Fundraising for $500,000 annual program budget.
? Oversee UII staff and activities, including:
? Marketing programs;
? HR and Education programs;
? Relationships with referral agencies;
? Industrial district activities and implementation of neighborhood improvement plans; and
? Initiating new or renewed contact with companies.
? Implementation and management of Philadelphia Made campaign.
? Implementation and management of Manufacturing Job Agency.
? Maintain records of activities and track outcomes.
Qualifications
? Organizational Ability – Can manage people and resources to get projects completed; has a strong ability to multi-task and keep order.
? Interpersonal Confidence – Strong interpersonal skills; can effectively communicate and relate to all levels within and outside the organization; creates and builds positive and productive relationships.
? Knowledge of Philadelphia’s business community and/or economic development practices.
? Fundraising experience.
? Strong verbal/written communication and public speaking skills.
? Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: MS Word, Excel, and Access.
? BA and 5+ years experience.
? Drivers License.
? Philadelphia residency (within 6 months).
Salary
Compensation commensurate with skills and experience level. Contingent on funding.
