Job Opening: Director Urban Engagement Penn State Center Philadelphia
Penn State Outreach & Online Education’s Strategic Partnerships unit is looking for a dynamic, creative, self-motivated individual based in Philadelphia to provide leadership, management, planning, and implementation of a broad portfolio of educational initiatives offered at the recently created Penn State Center…Engaging Philadelphia.
The successful candidate will lead the development of educational services to support student engagement, local economic growth and student success, diversity and inclusion, and World Campus student support. The manager will collaborate with key Philadelphia region stakeholders and University faculty and staff to facilitate curricular and co-curricular activities to grow residential and online student engaged scholarship.
Key tasks include engaging communities and students in reciprocal learning in an urban environment and meeting performance measures and financial metrics. Additional responsibilities are monitoring results and evaluating effectiveness of our strategies. Proven diplomacy, effective persuasive tact, complex problem solving, and a high level of communication skills are needed in this position. A demonstrated ability to successfully assess the needs of complex organizations, lead high performance teams without directly supervising, build and maintain a strategic network of internal and external relationships, and facilitate collaborative projects and partnerships is required.
The manager will develop processes and supportive relationships that will highlight Penn State as a leading public institution in the Philadelphia area for undergraduate engaged scholarship and online education. Typically requires a Master’s degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
