Director of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia
The Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN) is a growing organization that seeks to connect, strengthen and promote locally-owned businesses that measure success by community and environmental well-being, in addition to profit. We are a founding member of the international Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE).
We seek a dynamic, innovative director who can build the programs and partnerships needed to develop the organization in its formative stage of growth.
Demonstrated Qualities:
? Ability to capture the ideas of a group, find the common thread and then translate into action
? Ability to see larger picture, while carefully managing details
? Fiscally pragmatic
? Diplomatic spokesperson and effective communicator, comfortable with interacting with diverse groups
? Quick learner; self-motivated; organized and able to set priorities
? Effective delegator; able to direct and facilitate interns and members
Responsibilities:
? Run the day-to-day operations of SBN
? Identify program opportunities and funding options
? Organize events ? two conferences and multiple networking events each year
? Work with members to shape public policy in the region
? Manage budget, finances and fundraising
? Recruit new members
? Facilitate connections between members
? Develop partnerships with other businesses and nonprofits
? Create web and email membership communications
? Manage interns and volunteers
? Facilitate Steering Committee and other groups
Minimum Requirements:
? Completion of a bachelor?s degree program at an accredited college or university or comparable life experience
? Two years work experience in community economic development or business development. Preferred experience includes:
o Work in a new & growing nonprofit or business
o Work with businesses, or in economic development
o Experience facilitating groups
o Event and program planning
o Fundraising and finance management
? Minimum two year commitment
? Occasional evening and weekend events
? Connections with existing networks and connections in the Philadelphia Region are a plus
About the job:
