POSITION SUMMARY:
Campus Philly is a nonprofit organization that fuels economic growth by encouraging college students to study, explore, live and work in the Greater Philadelphia region. Campus Philly works with college and university partners in the region (26 in the 2010-11 year) to attract, engage and retain college students.
The position, Director of Student Engagement, functions as Campus Philly’s relationship manager for college and university partners and as the leader for Campus Philly’s student engagement programs, such as College Day and Passport to the Arts (a new program to provide low-cost arts and culture access to college students.)
The Director reports directly to the President, maintains an independent portfolio of projects and relationships, and supervises 2 program managers. In addition, Director contributes to the strategic direction of the organization, along with the Director of Career Programs and Corporate Relations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage Campus Philly’s relationships with 29 regional colleges and universities, including checking in with primary college contacts to ensure expectations are being met; supervising a program manager for student engagement to be on campuses frequently and effectively; supervising college partnership renewals and outreach to new partners.
• Direct Campus Philly’s student engagement programs, with the assistance of two program managers. Primary programs include:
o College Day
o Passport to the Arts
o Fall Tour (on campus activities during orientation weeks)
o Edutourism (a program to facilitate international students visiting regional colleges and universities in conjunction with the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau)
o Inclusive Leadership Conference (with Temple University)
o Student communications through Campus Philly’s e-newsletters and social media (produced and managed by program manager for communications)
• Participate in senior management planning activities, including business planning, budgeting and personnel management.
• Follow trends in the area of higher education and student engagement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree in higher education/student affairs, organizational management, or public administration desirable
Experience: Three to five years of professional experience in a relationship & project management role, with experience in higher ed a plus.
Necessary Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent relationship management and project management skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time and see projects through from start to finish.
• Ability to supervise others to work independently and effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Creative, motivated, and willing to take initiative at all levels of the organization.
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is $50,000-$55,000 annually, depending on experience, with benefits that include: health and dental insurance; paid time off; Campus Philly contribution to 401K; and, Transitcheck.
