The United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s mission is to improve people’s lives by mobilizing the caring power of donors, volunteers and communities. We have an excellent opportunity for a Director of Special Gifts to join our Resource Development team. The ideal individual is responsible and accountable for leading and managing individual, foundation and corporate special gifts to United Way. The Director also serves as a major gift officer for a significant portfolio of donors. The Director develops strategy and manages all aspects of individual, foundation and special corporate gift prospect and donor cultivation and solicitation, provides leadership and support for United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania individual giving committees, maximizing the involvement of Board and other volunteer leadership. The Director participates in the development department’s budgeting process, establishing annual revenue goals for individual, foundation and special corporate giving and developing the expense budget. S/he monitors progress against goals; analyzes monthly results; develops periodic forecasts; provides progress reports; and ensures accurate tracking and reporting of staff and volunteer activities and donor performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Provide overall strategic direction for all individual, foundation and special corporate annual and multi-year gifts.
•Successfully execute strategies to achieve annual and multi-year financial goals;
•Identify new sources of funding from local, and as applicable, regional and national sources.
•Identify funding opportunities that are relevant to and consistent with UWSEPA’s mission and goals, as well as its current future initiatives.
•Work closely with the SVP and AVP for Resource Development to coordinate giving and affinity programs with other fundraising programs within the Resource Development department.
•Maximize all available UWSEPA resources; apply exceptional relationship management with superior donor service to all prospects and donors, to include thorough cultivation, timely acknowledgment of giving, and consistent stewardship.
•Make presentations to diverse corporate and community audiences.
•Serve as a leader and contributing member of the Resource Development team to ensure that the team meets or exceeds goals and objectives.
•Manage a team or Major Gift Officers, Grant Writer(s) and Development Associate(s), providing direct supervision, coaching and development.
•Assist in the identification, recruitment and management of volunteer leaders to assist with UWSEPA fundraising efforts.
•Ensure complete and accurate donor data, including physical records and database.
•Ensure regular tracking and monitoring of individual, foundation and special corporate gift results and provide thorough analysis of activities and results.
•Positively represent UWSEPA at outside events, serving as an advocate of UWSEPA and its programs and goals.
