DIRECTOR SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION
Church run Nursery School in Chestnut Hill is seeking a Part–Time Director.
15 hrs./week, 9 am–12 pm preferred
Position available August 1st
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for supervising the preschool teaching staff
- Communicates the established policies to staff and parents
- Maintains a positive rapport with the Pastor, Church Administrator, Child Care Committee, Parents, Teachers, and Children
- Meets with Staff and Parents to discuss students’ progress in learning and social/emotional development
- Assists staff in communicating with parents and children
THREE MAIN AREAS OF WORK
- In coordination with the teachers, choose and implement a curriculum from materials available that is developmentally and age–appropriate for each of the 3 classes (Littles (15 months–2 years); 3’s,4’s–Pre–K). Support the teachers in their implementation of the curriculum and monitor the implementation with feedback. Advocate for staff with the Child Care Committee of the congregation.
- Get to know the children and their families. As issues arise with a child’s behavior, support teachers in working with the child, track behavior, if necessary, for discussing the challenging behavior as well as the joys of working with their children. Provide resources families for issues beyond the scope of the Nursery School.
- In coordination with the congregation’s Child Care Committee, advocate for the needs of the program and the staff in budgeting, setting tuition and fees, and in setting policy and guidelines for the program. (Quarterly meetings). (Billing will be handled outside of the Director’s role.)
