Director of Workforce Services, Center for Literacy
The Center for Literacy is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing free literacy instruction and a wide range of other adult literacy services that respond to the diversity of individuals and enable adult learners to meet their goals. Since 1968, CFL has provided thousands of adult individuals and families throughout Philadelphia with essential educational opportunities. CFL now serves almost 4,000 students and learners at nearly 120 sites throughout the Philadelphia area. The Center for Literacy is currently looking to fill its Director of Workforce Services position. The purpose of the position is to provide leadership in CFL’s efforts to provide workforce education services to the Delaware Valley community.
Responsibilities:
1) Administration
a. Provide guidance, training and oversight to staff in all workforce development programs including welfare-to-work and corporate training programs.
b. Monitor program data to ensure that all instructional and programmatic goals are met.
c. Write proposals, contracts, training plans and reports.
2) Outreach
a. Market CFL workforce education services to employers in the Delaware Valley.
b. Represent CFL at various meetings and networking events.
c. Secure fee-for-service contracts within the non-profit and business communities.
3) Instructional Leadership
a. Provide hands-on daily instructional leadership.
b. Assist teachers in designing customized curricula that meet the needs of CFL’s clients and learners.
c. Help teachers develop formative and summative evaluations for each project.
d. Stay abreast of current research and trends in the field and apply knowledge to implement best-practices in the classroom.
e. Conduct a needs analysis for companies and organizations interested in workforce services.
4) Agency Leadership
a. Serve as a member of the agency’s senior management team.
b. Attend agency meetings and special events.
5) Other duties as required
Required qualifications: Masters Degree in Education, Training and Development or related area, or equivalent work experience. 3 years of experience working in a supervisory capacity in an educational or non-profit setting. 3 years of experience teaching or training adults with some experience providing direct instruction to adults in a community environment, preference for ABE/GED/Literacy instruction.
Preferred qualifications: Experience with welfare-to-work population.
Salary: $45,000 – $50,000
