Want to be a part of a team working with youth and helping them to reach their DREAMS? Hopeworks ‘N Camden is looking for a full time Director of Trainees for our youth development organization in North Camden.
The ideal candidate for this position will be highly energetic and bring their passion for working with urban youth to our team. They will do this through consistent contact with youth, guiding them through Hopeworks’ training curriculum, monitoring their progress and connecting trainees to other opportunities available at Hopeworks. From their first day at Hopeworks a new trainee spends the majority of their time in training where the Director of Trainees will demonstrate the Hopeworks culture of learning to learn, sharing, and respect for others.
Duties for this important opportunity include but are not limited to:
Coordination of all aspects of trainees’ activities.
Formation and literacy meetings are happening and trainees are working towards their DREAMS.
Responsible for trainees successfully advancing through curriculum in a “learning to learn” model.
Facilitates the development of the Hopeworks culture in a group setting with up to 15 youth:
Developing leadership skills, job readiness and learning to learn.
Manage Morning Huddle every day where daily goals are set and tracked
Empowering youth through responsibility for their own progress and developing a sense of community through interaction with each other..
Run effective recruiting program to keep Hopeworks at capacity and maintain waiting list.
Develop and implement plans to improve trainee retention.
Requirements:
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Psychology, Social Work or related field.
Experience with youth development in urban environment.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage youth to work towards accomplishing goals and objectives.
Experience in group counseling with youth that are working through trauma.
General knowledge of computer technology and web development a plus.
3 – 5 years of experience in social work or counseling in a group setting.
