Philadelphia Zoo, America’s first zoo, is seeking a Director of School and Community Partnerships to join the Zoo’s Conservation Education team. The Director of School and Community Partnerships is responsible for the strategy, planning, management of all aspects of the Zoo’s community and school engagement, including collaboration with community partner organizations and neighborhood residents in West Philadelphia, expansion of curriculum-focused school programming and youth engagement designed to increase diversity, equity and inclusion in Zoo industry. This position requires a wide range of skills, including project and program management, youth development, and community outreach.

The Director of School and Community Partnerships is responsible for coordinating strategic partnerships that advance the Zoo’s mission impact goals and outcomes and positively impact Philadelphia students, including school business partnerships, universities, other non-profit partners.

The Director of School and Community Partnerships plays a lead role in overseeing the Zoo’s programming aimed at meaningfully engaging students from the surrounding neighborhoods and across Philadelphia. The Director of School and Community Partnerships works to identify, cultivate, and manage relationships that supports the growth and impact of this program and is fully integrated into the Zoo’s community engagement framework. In addition, the Director supports all aspects of the Zoo’s vision, strategic plan and mission impact strategy established by the President & CEO, Zoo Leadership Team and other stakeholders, including the Board of Directors.

The Director of School and Community Partnerships works closely with the Director of Mission Integration and the Director of Institutional Affairs to ensure the overall success of relationship building, strategic integration, and programmatic coordination.
