Description:
The Agatston Urban Nutrition Initiative (AUNI) is a program of the Netter Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania that engages, educates and empowers youth, university students, and community members to promote healthy lifestyles and build a just and sustainable food system.
The AUNI Director of Programs and Operations will provide overall supervision of school-based nutrition education programs and after-school and summer youth development programs focused on improving community nutrition. AUNI conducts nutrition education programs in 20 Philadelphia public schools reaching more than 10,000 K-12 students per month and organizes a year-round food justice internship program for 100 high school students. Responsibilities of the Director of Programs and Operations include staff supervision, grant writing and management, fiscal oversight of an annual operating budget of approximately $1.6 million, oversight of independent evaluation of AUNI programs and integration of AUNI programs with other university efforts to improve education at West Philadelphia public schools. The Director of Programs and Operations will serve on AUNI’s Senior Leadership Team and will plan and facilitate bi-weekly staff meetings.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have background in non-profit management, grants management, K-12 education and health/nutrition/wellness education, and program administration. Candidate should have at least 3-5 years experience working in educational and/or in non-profit administration.. Candidate should demonstrate experience that combines administration and promotion of social/educational programs, writing and supervising staff in educational contexts.
Principal Position Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES Estimated % of Time
1 Management of AUNI’s school-based nutrition education programs and after-school youth development programs including grant authorship, reporting and fiscal oversight 30%
2 Supervision of 3 AUNI senior staff members who are responsible for implementation of AUNI’s major school and community programs 20%
3 Coordination of AUNI programs with other university efforts, including ABCS courses and faculty research, to improve school and community nutrition in West Philadelphia 20%
4 Supervision of AUNI administrative staff 10%
5 Planning and facilitation of AUNI bi weekly staff meetings. 10%
6 Perform additional duties as assigned 10%
