One House at a Time (OHAAT) is a small, volunteer-driven nonprofit located in Huntingdon Valley, PA. Our current focus is ending child bedlessness in Greater Philadelphia. Through a program called Beds for Kids, we provide children and youth with beds, bedding, and tools that encourage healthy bedtime habits, so they can get the quality sleep they need to thrive.

OHAAT is looking to hire a full-time Director of Operations. He or she will report directly to OHAAT’s Executive Director and manage all Beds for Kids program operations.

Location: 570 Welsh Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006

Hours: Tuesday through Friday (with flextime and ability to work from home) + Saturday from 7AM to 1PM

Salary: $45,000 – $55,000 commensurate with experience, benefits available

Responsibilities and Skills:

Works with the Executive Director to set operational strategies

  • Sets long- and short-term goals, metrics, and priorities
  • Creates effective and efficient policies and procedures
  • Uses metrics to reassess and readjust strategies

Manages inventory

  • Builds and manages relationships with suppliers; negotiates pricing and makes purchases
  • Builds and manages relationships with in kind donors; runs collection runs
  • Has excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and internet browsing
  • Keeps accurate records
  • Manages multiple timelines at once; plans for contingencies
  • Can create predictive models

Manages sorting and delivery events

  • Prepares volunteers and other staff for events; sets realistic expectations
  • Creates and follows checklists to eliminate as many points of failure as possible
  • Quickly solves multi-variable problems

Manages and recruits volunteers

  • Has excellent customer service skills; receptive to feedback but affirming of constraints and policies
  • Has excellent online communication skills; proficient in email and social media
  • Carries out enthusiastic volunteer outreach to a variety of populations; grateful and persistent

Maintains OHAAT’s storage facility and box truck

  • Cleans and organizes OHAAT’s storage facility
  • Can lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis
  • Schedules professional maintenance
