DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS, PENN STATE: The Hamer Center for Community Design
Assistance is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Director of Operations. Primary responsibilities include overseeing management of all existing Center outreach projects. Enable and support Penn State`s community of scholars to engage in original research and provide resources to ongoing research projects. Provide day-to-day administration of Center operations and implementation of organizational policy and procedures. Secure external grant support via public and private agencies and other potential funding entities. Work closely with Center Director in the following areas: overall strategic direction of Center, communicating and promoting the Center`s work to diverse communities, implementing new initiatives, and assisting Director in the development and implementation of annual and long-term plans. The Hamer Center for Community Design Assistance is a research and outreach unit of Penn State University that focuses on issues relevant to the future of local communities. The purpose of the Hamer Center is to provide education, research and technical assistance related to land use and transportation, community and economic development, health and the environment, and quality of life. The Hamer Center also seeks to link other expertise and resources at Penn State with community planning needs and to form partnerships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and citizen groups that are working to promote innovative design and planning strategies. Require Master`s degree or equivalent in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, public policy, or related, plus five years of work-related experience in community design, urban community development, civic leadership and governance, or multi-sector partnerships. Excellent communication and facilitation skills required. Demonstrated track record in grant writing and securing funding and evidence of leadership in organizational management required.
