Description:
Provides and ensures mission-focused vision and leadership to achieve and maintain excellence in organizational fund development and with external communication and advocacy. This position will integrate the department’s initiatives with the organization’s strategic direction. Primary responsibilities include the creation, planning, and execution of a comprehensive development program to support the full range of Agency programs and services. Additional responsibilities include the development of a communications and marketing plan, with the goal of community wide education, mobilization for social change, and dynamic corporate communications. Coordinates and co-leads advocacy initiatives. Provides leadership, direction and support to the Development Coordinator and any other department support staff. The Director will also manage strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders and serve as a member of the Executive Team.
Additional Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business or Public Administration or a related field is required.
• A minimum of five (5) years experience in fundraising and public relations is required.
• Previous experience in securing major individual donors, corporate and foundation gifts, and grants is required.
• A minimum of five (5) years of management/supervisory experience is required.
• Demonstrated excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization is required.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively represent an advocacy agency or function is required.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population is required.
• Demonstrated commitment to service of others is required.
• Some experience in working on domestic violence issues is strongly preferred.
Hours: full time with core hours from 9am to 5pm Monday thru Friday and as needed. Flexibility required due to the nature of the job. Salary: commensurate with experience as well as a generous full benefits package.
