Director of Development and Communications, TeenSHARP
Posted by TeenSHARP on February 8, 2022
Founded in 2009, TeenSHARP prepares talented Black, Latino, and low-income students for top colleges and community-centered leadership. We do so in pursuit of a vision that, one day, the diversity of those occupying our nation’s highly-skilled jobs and highest leadership positions will be as rich as the diversity of our population.
At TeenSHARP we believe that students are capable of so much more than schools typically ask of them. We hold high academic and leadership standards for all scholars and employ a “Whatever It Takes” approach to ensure they have a robust support system to achieve their goals. Our advisors work to develop scholars through timely, candid feedback, introducing opportunities to gain top leadership and professional experiences, and providing strategic academic advising and coaching.
The Director of Development and Communications plays a leading role in increasing the awareness of TeenSHARP’s work and growing the organization’s sources of philanthropic support. The Director will be responsible (in coordination with the TeenSHARP board and executive team) for strengthening current funder relationships and managing current grants, while also seeking and securing new sources of funding for TeenSHARP. The role will require executing on TeenSHARP’s existing development and communications strategies while also innovating and creating new approaches to help TeenSHARP scale its work. The Director will report to TeenSHARP’s CEO and will work closely with TeenSHARP’s board to realize TeenSHARP’s fundraising goals through expert development and communications strategy, grant management, donor cultivation, and fundraising material creation. The Director will also manage media relations and communications content development for the organization.
