Director of Development and Communications
Community Learning Center, an outcome driven nonprofit adult literacy organization that offers free GED, basic reading, and English language classes for vulnerable residents of Philadelphia seeks a full-time Director of Development and Communications.
Responsibilities
Grants
1. Research old and new grant opportunities
2. Create and maintain a calendar of due dates for grant applications and reports
3. Carefully draft and proofread grant applications and reports for review and approval by the Executive Director before submission
Fundraising
1. Create annual fundraising plan
2. Collect/write stories and create CLC newsletter according to plan, and organize mailing of the newsletter
3. Compose and organize mailing of CLC’s annual appeal letter according to plan
4. Communicate and meet with the Board’s Fundraising Committee and help implement its ideas
5. Help formulate fundraising strategy through running reports, researching, attending workshops/seminars, and organizing focus groups
6. Help organize fundraising events
7. Manage donor database
8. Write and mail acknowledgment letters to donors
9. Manage CLC’s participation in micro-funding programs
Communications
1. Manage CLC website
2. Manage social media, e.g., write and send updates via Constant Contact and Twitter, post updates on Facebook
3. Write, format, and organize mailing of CLC’s annual report
Other
1. Participate in CLC director and staff meetings
2. Assist with program activities as requested
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, marketing, or related field
2. Minimum of one year of experience in grant writing and social media
3. Experience using donor databases, Excel, website software, and graphic design software
