POSITION OPPORTUNITY
Senior Community Services (SCS), a Delaware County non-profit organization, serving older adults in Delaware County is searching for a full-time Director of Advancement to spearhead its fundraising program.
POSITION SUMMARY
Senior Community Services (SCS) seeks a full time Director of Advancement. The mission of SCS is to help older adults live meaningful independent through direct services and programing. The Director of Advancement is responsible for managing and implementing a multi-faceted development program, which includes annual fund, major gifts, foundation grants, corporate sponsorship, and special event components. Building on the existing fundraising program, the Director of Advancement will identify priorities to broaden revenue sources and to build lasting donor relationships. The position also includes participation in SCS’ marketing outreach and outcome measurements. Position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Finance and the Development Committees of the Board of Directors.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Develops and implements prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for engaging individual donors, foundations and corporate sponsors.
2. Uses social media and the internet to connect with donors and raise visibility of SCS’ mission and programming.
3. Researches corporate and foundation funding sources and writes proposals, reports and other required material in a timely fashion. Also, as necessary, supervise adjunct grant writers to address overload circumstances.
4. Maintains grants calendar for current and pending proposals and reports.
5. Plans, manages and implements Annual Fund, including creating tiered giving levels to build a Major Gifts program.
6. Plans and implements special event fundraisers working with program managers, board members and volunteers.
7. Acknowledges all gifts and oversees the maintenance and expansion of SCS’ database of supporters. Implements donor recognition plan on regular basis.
8. Oversee SCS’ electronic donor data base.
9. Oversee outcome measurements for all SCS programming, assuring timely completion, recording, and analysis of survey results according to planned protocol.
10. Works with Finance and Development Committees as well as Executive Director to set goals, and monitor fundraising activities.
11. Participates in SCS’ Marketing Committee.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of three years of proven experience in managing and building an effective fundraising program.
• Excellent ability to plan, organize and direct multiple projects.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Able to provide samples of work.
• Understanding of, and commitment to, the mission of SCS. Able to articulate the mission and services of SCS and have the ability to represent SCS in a highly professional manner.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with donor tracking systems and relationship management software.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
• Sound judgment, professionalism and a positive attitude.
• Knowledge of the region’s social service/aging field a plus.
• Ideal candidate will be self-directed, flexible, a team player and a strategic thinker.
